ESRI President Jack Dangermond to Address NCSE Conference NCSE's 5th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment: Forecasting Environmental Changes will take place on February 3-4, 2005 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. This unique, interactive conference will serve as a forum for more than 700 leading scientists, engineers, policy makers, government officials, business executives, and educators to assess our ability to understand and forecast environmental changes and to identify opportunities for improving these capabilities. It will connect decisionmakers with researchers who study environmental conditions and trends. As previously announced, former EPA Administrator William D. Ruckelshaus will deliver the John H. Ruckelshaus will draw upon his distinguished career in both the public and private sectors as a tireless advocate for balanced, durable and broadly-supported solutions to environmental and conservation issues. The opening keynote address will be delivered by James Gustave Speth, Dean of the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Speth will draw upon his past experience as Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and Founder and President of the World Resources Institute to address opportunities for the United States to assert a leadership role in domestic and international environmental issues. Confirmed participants in roundtable plenary discussions will include:
All conferees will take part in one of 18 interactive breakout sessions and one of four symposia, where they will generate strategies to connect institutions, fields of science and stakeholder communities to further advance environmental forecasting and decisionmaking.
